Donald Trump keeps boasting about all the people who showed up at his hate-filled rallies during the Presidential campaign as evidence of how deep his support is.
He has gotten a cold dose of reality recently, however, with his complete inability to book A-list talent to perform at his inauguration. Several well-known entertainers, including Garth Brooks, Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, Ice-T and John Legend, have all refused to perform. They are taking it a step further and striking back in an epic way.
University of California, Berkeley Professor and outspoken Trump critic Robert Reich saw how performers were all shunning Trump, and wrote to his 1.7 million Facebook his idea to put together an anti-Trump concert to counter the inauguration. Said Reich, “Someone just suggested to me a televised ‘freedom concert’ to air at the same time as the inauguration — with huge celebrities like Beyoncé and Jay Z, Madonna, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, and so on. Alec Baldwin MC’s the event, playing Trump as he does on SNL. Presto. The Trump inauguration loses all the TV ratings. Basically, no one watches it.”
Concert promoter Mark Ross is taking Reich up on his idea. According to a report: “Mark Ross, a concert promoter and the son of the late Time Warner CEO Steve Ross, is in the process of putting together a large-scale concert called ‘We the People’ to directly compete with Trump’s inauguration. The organizers are looking to hold the event in Miami on Inauguration Day. ‘The talent is banging on our doors to do this,’ according to a source familiar with the planning.” Will you watch the anti-Trump concert?
