Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and failed California Senate candidate Carly Fiorina clashed with Donald Trump during the Republican primaries, with Trump infamously mocking the glass ceiling shattering businesswoman for her looks.
Since then, the two have made nice, with Fiorina publicly gushing about what an honor it was to meet with Trump in the time since the election. However, Fiorina just carried out a stunning turn against Trump by making a demand about the investigation into Trump’s Russia ties.
President Trump and Trump-friendly Republicans have dismissed the bipartisan calls for an investigation into alleged collusion by Trump’s team with the Russian regime of Vladimir Putin. In particular, they have brushed off the push for there to be a special prosecutor assigned to the investigation. Fiorina broke ranks with these Trump-friendly GOPs, saying on The John Fredericks Show, “We’ve got to have either a special prosecutor or an independent commission, and that’s still the right answer.” However, she managed to cleverly pin it on the Democrats by stating, “And every day that goes by it becomes clear that’s the right answer, because the Democrats will not let this go. And the American people need to be reassured about what actually happened here. That’s the only way you’re going to get to the bottom of this in a way that everyone trusts.”
Fiorina also stated that this Russia investigation needs to be one that “no one can question,” which would appear to rule out the participation of embattled Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee. Other Republican lawmakers have called on Nunes to recuse himself from the probe. Congressman Walter Jones, who was the first Republican to make that demand of Nunes, stated, “If anything has shown that we need [an independent] commission, this has done it by the way he has acted.” Are you glad that Fiorina and other leading Republicans are taking a firm stance with the Russia investigation?
