Twenty years ago, beloved comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres came out as gay on national television.
Today, Ellen is one of the most powerful women in show business and hosts an Emmy award winning talk show. However, there is one guest that is not allowed to be on her show.
That’s right. Ellen told Today’s Matt Lauer that she wouldn’t want the 45th President of the United States to come on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
When Lauer asked her to explain, Ellen said,”He’s against everything that I stand for.”
“We need to look at someone else who looks different than us, and believes in something that we don’t believe in and still accept them and still let them have their rights.”
Ellen went on discuss how she had met Trump and even flew in his helicopter several years prior. But she also said that she has not spoken to Trump since he ran for 45th President of the United States.
Then, Ellen asked Lauer how he felt about the President’s “war on the media.”
Lauer responded, “I think it’s something that he goes out and he says in front of a crowd of supporters and it gets a great reaction. He doesn’t hate the media. As a matter of fact, he’s someone who has loved the media more than most people.”
Ellen then stated, “I think he hates the media that’s going to attack him.”
Then Lauer argued that “You can’t have it both ways. You can’t just have a media that you only want to say the things you want it to say. I think it’s going to die down, I really do.”
Do you agree with Lauer? Will it die down?
