Ivanka Trump Just Got An Official White House Job, It’s Nepotism At Its Worst [Details]

Donald Trump, the White House’s resident buffoon, has broken presidential protocol in countless ways. However, one particularly worrying development has been how Trump has brought his fashion and perfume entrepreneur daughter Ivanka along with him to high level meetings with key foreign leaders.

Trump clearly needs all the help he can get, and he is unwilling to turn to people who are actually knowledgeable about important topics for advice. Instead, Trump has opted to give Ivanka an official position within his White House.

The White House released a laughable statement about Ivanka Trump’s new job as the President of the United States’ assistant, saying, “We are pleased that Ivanka Trump has chosen to take this step in her unprecedented role as First Daughter and in support of the President. Ivanka’s service as an unpaid employee furthers our commitment to ethics, transparency, and compliance and affords her increased opportunities to lead initiatives driving real policy benefits for the American public that would not have been available to her previously.” A few weeks ago, the White House officially acknowledged that Ivanka had an office on the premises, despite the fact that she had no formal government role.

Ivanka at least seems to understand how ethically murky her decision to take on this position is. Said Ivanka, “I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the President in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees. Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role.” Do you think it’s strange that Trump’s daughter and son-in-law will now be working at the White House?
