One disturbing consequence of Donald Trump being America’s President (!) is that he and his administration have clearly been trying to send American woman back to the 50’s, the era in which he was raised.
What is particularly unsettling about Trump’s attitudes toward women is that they are being echoed by many female Republican lawmakers and other prominent conservative public figures. Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn recently went on CNN and criticized Hillary Clinton for how she feels she is behaving toward Trump.
CNN host Jake Tapper asked Blackburn to comment on Clinton’s recent statement about now being part of the “resistance” against Trump. Instead of seeing how Clinton might be upset at Trump and his policies toward women, minorities and other vulnerable groups, Blackburn chided Hillary for lacking “graciousness.” Griped Martha about Clinton, “I think as a woman who is in elected office, it is disappointing to me. Hillary Clinton has the opportunity to role model graciousness. But she is choosing to live and stew in bitterness. And to blame somebody else.”
She added, “Throughout my career, I’ve seen over and over again, eventually you say, ‘This didn’t work’ or ‘I didn’t win’ or ‘I am sorry.’ And you move on. You accept things. You own it. You move on. And she is missing a great opportunity by not doing that. Listen to her, it’s always somebody else’s fault. Listen to her, another day for the election and she would have won.” Why is Blackburn criticizing Hillary while defending Trump’s harmful and degrading acts toward women? Watch the full segment below:
