Typically, Hollywood is anti-Trump, and soap star Anthony Sabato Jr. knows that. But nonetheless, the actor plans to use his Trump connection to help his own congressional campaign.
The former “General Hospital” star Antonio Sabato Jr. is a well-known Republican who supported Donald Trump’s campaign for president.
According to HuffPo, the 45-year-old actor filed campaign documents with the Federal Election Commission on Monday for California’s 26th Congressional District seat.
Moreover, GOP strategist Charles Moran, who is raising funds for Sabato’s campaign, confirmed that the actor will be running. Sabato is planning on focusing on the fact that he is a member of the majority party who has good relations with the Trump administration,” according to CNN.
Sabato has always been just an actor but had an interest in politics and policy. However, it wasn’t until speaking at the Republican National Convention last summer when Sabato decided to run, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Moreover, Sabato told ABC News that Barack Obama is “absolutely” a Muslim. Sabato said, “We had a Muslim president for seven and a half years.”
Sabato also discussed h0w his acting career has become virtually non-existent due to his outspoke support for Trump.
“I’ve had fantastic directors who have said officially to my agents and managers they will never hire me again,” he told Variety.com. “They will never even see me for projects. That’s unfair. It’s just like communism.”
