President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been steadfastly denying that they were involved in interfering with the 2016 presidential election. However, every day we see more evidence that shows that is just not the case.
In fact, according to Reuters, Putin actually had a think-tank where their main goal was to get Donald Trump into office.
That’s right. According to sources, Putin had a think-tank that’s purpose was to “developed a plan to swing the 2016 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump and undermine voters’ faith in the American electoral system.”
How did they find out? Well, two documents were leaked that were prepared by the Moscow-based Russian Institute for Strategic Studies.
One of the documents was said to be circulated “at the highest levels of the Russian government.” This document suggested a social media strategy that would “encourage U.S. voters to elect a president who would take a softer line toward Russia than the administration of then-President Barack Obama.”
The other document was simply designed to discredit Clinton since she was likely to win. Specifically, to “undermine the U.S. electoral system’s legitimacy and damage Clinton’s reputation.”
One official told Reuters, ‘Putin had the objective in mind all along, and he asked the institute to draw him a road map.’
Sputnik is a Russian state-backed news outlet, and they have denied all the claims from these seven U.S. officials. In fact, Sputnik’s spokesperson called them an “absolute pack of lies.” The spokesperson also sent an email to Reuters, stating.
‘And by the way, it’s not the first pack of lies we’re hearing from “sources in U.S. official circles.”’
Does this seem like a lie to you or a smoking gun?
